The Fall

It's been since August since I've updated (horrible blogger) I know.

Lucas turned 1 August 25th. We had an awesome party, my cousin Rosemary, fly in and helped out tons it was a lot of fun!

It's hard to keep up with blogging with him running around and into everything. I rarely get days of rest, thankfully Tom is good and will take over so I can get a break to collect myself. I am blessed with a fantastic husband.

Things Lucas has accomplished since then:
-Has 8 teeth
-Started walking shortly after his first birthday
-Is running now
-Points at things he wants
-Knows what Car, Cat, Dog, Mama, Dada, Nana, Cookie, Cup, Boobie, Plane and a ton of other words mean.
-Sleeps in his crib in his room at night
-Has cut out one nap so he naps only once a day now.
-Loves to go outside
-Throws tantrums like you wouldn't believe
-Moves furniture lol
-Laughs ALL the time

There is a lot more he's done but yanno I can only think of so much in one sitting.

We had fun on Halloween, this is the first year Lucas dressed up. He was a pirate! We had two of his friends over and went trick or treating for the first time! Lots of fun!

We went to the Memphis Zoo for the first time last Sunday and he really enjoyed all the animals and the planes flying over.

He's a sweet little guy. I can't believe he'll be 15 months soon!
We're getting ready for the holidays here. I've got some things coming up in the next two weeks so I'll be busy, the past few weekends have been filled with baby showers, weddings, and zoo fun. We have birthday's and then thanksgiving in the following.
I'm so excited for thanksgiving lol TURKEY. Lucas will also be able to eat more. He eats a lot of solid foods but we still give him yogurt and applesauce on a daily basis.

Foods he loves:
-Yogurt
-Applesauce
-Waffles
-Chicken
-Fries and tator tots not often and never more than a couple
-Stew
-CARROTS (ate all of the carrots out of his chicken soup lol didn't touch the noodles)
-Eggs
-Any type of Bread
-Ham
-Grapes
-Blueberries
-Bananas
-Cereal (Cherrios)
-Cookies
He's not huge into solid foods yet but we are getting there.

Teeth

Lucas officially has three teeth and the fourth one is ALMOST there. It is breaking through but hasn't broken through officially so... yeah.
Two bottom and two on the tops. I'm not even looking to see if his others are coming in, denial.
As we approach our first big celebration for Lucas' life it comes at a great time in our lives. Lucas will be 1 in 20 days and it's hard to believe how quickly this first big milestone has come. I've enjoyed the ride for sure. Not sure enough I want to do it again any time soon haha.
We are planning his birthday party for the Saturday following his birthday. I'm excited to share our joy with those we care about.
On another note:

Lucas is close to walking. He pulls up on everything and he's starting to let go of objects and push objects around while walking. He's slowly finding his balance. He falls all the time he's a big boy and rarely cries. I think when he does cry it's because of our reactions to him falling.
I'm kind of excited about him walking yet at the same time... not so much. He's been crawling for a little over two months now and it's been hell on my heart. We're getting better.
He discovered the piano yesterday so he's been trying to push the keys with the tips of his fingers. I put him up there and we played the piano for a little while. He really enjoyed it. I hope he will want to learn one day.
Not a big update today. i'm trying to get this in while I wait for Lucas to wake from his nap.

Been a while update.

Things have been crazy to say the least. Lucas is 10.5 months old now.

What we've been up to?

-We did our first vacation to Virginia Beach (17 hours in the car) He did great on the way there bad on the way back.

-He's crawling up a flipping storm! (one of the main reasons I haven't updated lol)

-He's babbling mama and dada and knows who is who.

-Waving hi

-Pulling up on everything

-Did I mention crawling everywhere?

-Eating a lot more baby food and solids

We've been really good. We're planning his first birthday party which will be held on August 29th. The Satuday after his birthday.

We're excited but we can't believe how quickly the time has just flown by. This time last year we were putting his room together preparing for his arrival.

-He's more interested in cell phones and pepsi bottles than baby toys. He's just now really starting to enjoy being read to.

-He likes to swing even though it's 100 degrees outside.

-He still loves taking a bath and loooves to splash

-Loves to chase the cat and the dog around. The dog doesn't mind the cat... well he's already been clawed by her.

It is such an amazing process watching how quickly the go from depending on us entirely to growing his own independence wanting to be every where on his own.

I can't believe that I will soon be the parent to a toddler. The parent to a 1 year old son.

We've really enjoyed the process and even though it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows over all it's this joyous experience we've been blessed with.

Being a mother is the hardest and most rewarding thing I've done (next to breastfeeding an infant with teeth haha).

Thomas is a fantastic husband and father I think it's given us a whole new thing to bond over. He is by far the best father out there. He is so hands on, he gets up in the middle of the night, he takes over parenting on days I've had enough. He goes out of his way to help even when he's not sure what to do.

I've been blessed with not only a beautiful son but a brilliant husband. Life is indeed good.

Almost crawling

Lucas is trying to crawl. It's an amazing process watching him look at things and try to reach and grab them. He can push on all fours but usually he slides down on his belly pushing up w/ his arms. The past two days or so he's doing it more and sitting on all fours.

It's only a matter of time before he's on the go and I'll never get a break haha.

His teeth are coming in quite nicely we think his top teeth will be in soon not sure how long possibly a month or two. Amazing it takes forever for teeth to come in.

He'll be 9 months old in a week and I just can't believe it. We look back at photos of him taken when he was a couple hours old and look at him now it's just hard to believe he'll be 9 months old in a week.

His personality is starting to really shine through. He cries when he doesn't get his way and he loves to be snuggled. Right now his favorite book is "Dimity Duck" he'd rather eat it than read it however when I read to him he is all smiles.

As for toys his favorite toys are measuring cups, cell phones, and TV remotes. I think most babies his age love these things. As for baby toys he loves his bath measuring cups and some connecting tubes. He likes to put the open hole into his mouth and yell into it. Which is fine it's very muffled haha.

Lucas is in love with the cat and dog. Smiles are guaranteed when those two are around!

He sleeps very well most nights some nights he gets up and wants to eat. Other nights he's out all night. If he didn't sleep well at night I'd lose it but we have been blessed. He prefers to sleep on his tummy but is all over in the crib he goes down on one end wakes up on the other side.

Teeth

Lucas popped two teeth a couple days ago his bottom front teeth have made an appearance.

By the looks of it he'll have his top teeth in the next couple months. He's 8 months and 1 week I can't believe he's already teething!

On the solid food front he enjoys applesauce, bananas, pears, prunes, apricots, peaches, and some things he doesn't care for, carrots, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash.

He likes Cheerios but they are still a little tough for him. Loves Gerber banana puffs.

He loves feeding himself and is a pro at it.

We'll be traveling to Virginia Beach, VA this summer to see his Great Grand Mudder and his Uncle Leelee that will be very exciting!

First Solid Food!

Today we have started on solids. His very first food? Avocado. Fresh!

He did really well I was so impressed with him. Now hopefully he'll like it enough and it won't bother him. :)

Pictures!
